The 2021 International Workshop On Mathematical Issues In Information Sciences (MIIS 2021) was Successfully Held
The 2021 International Workshop On Mathematical Issues In Information Sciences (MIIS 2021) was grandly held at the Huawei BanTian venue from December 18th to 19th, 2021. The symposium was jointly organized by the Shenzhen Research Institute of Big Data, Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Society, Huawei ICT Research and Algorithm Subcommittee, Huawei Shenzhen Research Institute, Communication Information Control and Security Technology Key Laboratory of the 36th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, Shenzhen International Cernter for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen.
The conference invited 15 world-renowned experts in the field of data science from academia and industry, including Arnulf Jentzen, Costas A. Courcoubetis, Song Le, Feng Jianfeng, Emil Björnson, Ma Yi, Fan Pingzhi, Sun Ruoyu, Zhu Jun, He Smai, Liang Jing, Ran Bo, Giuseppe Caire, and Jin Shi, to deliver keynote speeches. The symposium was conducted with both physical and online venues, and more than 200 scientists, researchers, and engineers participated in the event.
Since 2012, the International Workshop On Mathematical Issues In Information Sciences has been held annually as scheduled. Its aim is to gather leading international scholars, experts, and professionals in relevant disciplines, providing them with an open academic exchange platform. The symposium focuses on cutting-edge academic issues, aiming to discuss practical solutions for information science and big data analysis.
The opening ceremony of MIIS 2021 was kicked off by a welcome speech from Professor Luo Zhiquan, a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Vice President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), and Director of Shenzhen Research Institute of Big Data.
Huawei's Vice President of Global Technical Cooperation, Ai Chao, then delivered a speech. He mentioned that in the face of exponentially growing network complexity, systematic breakthroughs in mathematics and fundamental theories are the practical solutions. The current greatest challenge lies in elevating industrial problems to mathematical questions and exploring them collaboratively with engineers and mathematicians. This is also one of the purposes of the MIIS conference. He looks forward to the continued establishment of extensive cooperation between the industry and academia.
Professor Qian Huihuan, Vice Director of the Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Society (AIRS), expressed that AIRS is honored to be one of the organizers of the MIIS conference. Technologies such as artificial intelligence applications, machine learning, and intelligent robotics all require a profound understanding of applied mathematics.
Professor Wang Xiaoping, Executive Deputy Director of Shenzhen International Cernter for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, gave a brief introduction about the center. As one of the organizers of MIIS, the newly established International Industrial and Applied Mathematics Center has received strong support from various parties since its establishment in September this year. This fully reflects the expectations and enthusiasm for the integration of applied mathematics and industry.
After the conclusion of the opening ceremony, the two-day International Symposium on Data Science officially commenced. Fifteen world-renowned experts in the field of data science from academia and industry delivered keynote speeches.
