The Forum on Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences Successfully Concludes
On December 14, 2022, the Forum on Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences, organized by the School of Science and Engineering of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), the Shenzhen International Center for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and the Shenzhen Research Institute of Big Data, successfully concluded. Experts and scholars from the Greater Bay Area and beyond shared their latest research achievements in the fields of mathematics and interdisciplinary sciences, delivering a series of captivating presentations that garnered widespread attention.
Academician Xu Yangsheng, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), stated in his speech that the mathematics discipline has always been an indispensable part of the university's academic development and serves as an important research foundation for the intersection of various science and engineering fields. He expressed his hope that the Shenzhen International Center for Industrial and Applied Mathematics could closely collaborate with research in other disciplines to contribute to the advancement of interdisciplinary research.
Academician Luo Zhiquan, Vice President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) and Director of the Shenzhen Research Institute of Big Data, stated that after two years of development, the Shenzhen International Center for Industrial and Applied Mathematics was officially registered in early December. He emphasized that the establishment and growth of the center rely on the support and assistance of various government departments and experts. The mathematics center will focus on national strategic issues and core technological problems related to the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing in the Greater Bay Area, aiming to build a high-level research platform for mathematics and interdisciplinary studies.
Zhong Hai, Deputy Director of the Shenzhen Municipal Science and Technology Innovation Commission, expressed gratitude on behalf of the committee to all the experts and researchers for their support of the development of the science and technology innovation industry in Shenzhen.
