Research Focus
The HuatuoGPT project primarily aims to address challenges in traditional medical processes through artificial intelligence technology, such as patients selecting the wrong appointment, long wait times, and suboptimal healthcare experiences. Specifically, it utilizes AI natural language processing technology to guide patients in describing their conditions, accurately identify symptoms, and intelligently recommend the appropriate departments. The system is designed to optimize the allocation of medical resources within hospitals, enhance patient experiences, and reduce repetitive tasks during consultations through a pre-consultation feature that records medical information. It also provides data support for hospitals to optimize operational management and improve the efficiency of healthcare workers.
Main Outputs
The primary outputs of the HuatuoGPT project include the establishment of an intelligent triage and pre-consultation system that accurately directs patients to the appropriate departments, reducing instances of incorrect appointments and enhancing patient experience. Additionally, a 24-hour multimodal intelligent customer service system has been implemented, supporting various input methods such as images, text, and voice. By combining RAG technology with the hospital's local knowledge base, it offers precise consultation guidance and online intelligent health inquiries. The system also features data-driven decision support capabilities, uncovering information about patients' disease spectra and consultation patterns to provide data support for hospital resource allocation and healthcare service planning.
Specific Application Scenarios and Functions
The HuatuoGPT project is specifically applied in the patient triage scenario within healthcare services, determining the urgency and severity of patients' conditions by asking about their symptoms and medical history. The main functions of the system include:
- Improving patient healthcare experiences by reducing errors in appointment scheduling and long wait times.
- Providing 24/7 intelligent customer service to address patients' health inquiries and medical guidance questions.
- Offering an intelligent health consultation assistant function that answers health-related questions online, providing a human-like interaction experience.
- Supporting hospital resource allocation and operational management through data analysis and optimization of healthcare services.
Collaboration Model
The HuatuoGPT project is currently a collaborative effort involving the Longgang District Health Bureau of Shenzhen, the National Health Medical Big Data Research Institute (Shenzhen), and 12 public hospitals in the Longgang District. In terms of model development, the project utilizes Hua Tuo GPT, co-developed by the Shenzhen Research Institute of Big Data, the National Health Medical Big Data Research Institute (Shenzhen), and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), for model training. The trained triage model is integrated with the information systems of major hospitals, ensuring that patient appointment information seamlessly connects to the hospitals' electronic medical record systems.
